Once in a while I embark on a particular research project that may last weeks or even months, alongside the usual day-to-day activities such as trawling eBay and Flickr looking for old photos. It may be an idea I’ve had for a while or something completely out of the blue if for instance I become aware of a private collection and as a result end up spending months digitising and piecing it together. In any case, it is always a labour of love and something I find hugely interesting. I wouldn’t spend a minute working on it otherwise.
