The Last House Standing – Marc Caucutt’s account of the demolition of Cowper Road

On July 5th, 2023, I interviewed Marc Caucutt, a resident of 33 Cowper Road, discussing the demolition of the street in the late 1970s for the creation of Butterfield Green. More than 100 Victorian houses were demolished, including Marc’s family home, the last one standing in 1982. In the brief 15-minute interview, Marc shared insights into his 60s and 70s childhood and the challenges during the demolition of the east side of the street.
